What We Believe

In John 1:12, the bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” The Spring of Water Christian Assembly agree that you become what you believe.

Beliefs

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is God’s word to us, it is divinely inspired, it is infallible, it is the final authority of God’s word, and that it is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief’s and living. (2 Timothy 3:16,17).

The Eternal Godhead

We believe that there is but one true and living God who eternally co-exist in three persons, Father Son and Holy Ghost. (2 Corinthians 13:14).

The Deity of Christ

We believe in the deity of Christ, and His virgin birth (Colossians 2:9)(Matthew 1:23).

The Fall of Man

We believe man was created in the image of God, before whom he walked in holiness and in purity, but that by voluntary disobedience and transgression man fell from perfection to the depths of sin and iniquity. (Romans 5:12).

The Plan of Salvation

We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, signing the pardon for all who believe in Him. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).

Salvation Through Grace

We believe we have no righteousness and must come to God, pleading the righteousness of Christ and that we are saved by grace alone. (Ephesians 2:8).

Repentance & Acceptance

We believe that upon sincere repentance and a whole-hearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God. (Romans 10:6-10; 1 John 1:9)

The New Birth

We believe the change which takes place in the heart and life at conversion is a very real one, and that the sinner is then born again in such a glorious and transforming manner that the old things are passed away and all things become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20).

Baptism and The Lord’s Supper

We believe baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work. (Matthew 28:19) We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s Supper by the symbolical use of the bread and the juice of the vine. (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25)

Baptism with the Holy Spirit

We believe the baptism with the Holy Spirit has a distinct experience from the new birth, and that He empowers believers, and that His incoming is after the same manner as in Bible days. (Acts 1:4 – 8, 2:4, 2:32 – 33, 8:14 – 17, 10:44 – 46, 11:14 – 16.).

The Gifts & Fruit of the Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit bestows gift upon Christians (1 Corinthians 12:8 – 10) and that we should show spiritual fruits as evidence of a Spirit filled life. (Galatians 5:22)

Divine Healing/2nd coming

We believe divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the sick in answer to the prayer of faith. (James 5:14-16).

We believe the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent. (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17)
